If you want to learn on your own this is what I recommend you do:

1.  Contact your local hobby store or call Tower Hobbies 1-800-637-6050

2.  Order a RealFlight G3 Flight Simulator for you computer.

3.  Fly this simulator until you can master the trainer type airplanes.

4.  Order an RTF Electric Trainer Combo.

5.  On a no wind day go to the park and give it a try.

6.  Beware of radio frequency interference.

This may seem like a very expensive way to go; however, in the long run it will be the cheapest.  Crashes cost you a lot of money.

In my opinion the best way to learn is, join the AMA and the local flying club.  Contact a club member who knows how to fly. He will probably ask you to get simulator time on a computer.  This saves wear and tear on your airplane.  The advantages of belonging to a club are you have radio frequency control and a secure  place to fly.  Another advantage is that you can meet a lot of people who share your desire to fly.  They can be very helpful.  You also receive a million dollars worth of insurance with you membership in the AMA.
