2012 Meeting Minutes
February 1 Meeting
President John Sandy called the meeting to order at 7 pm at its new meeting place, Hardees on 10th Avenue South, with 12 members in attendance. The Club Secretary forgot to bring the Minutes of the January meeting, so he suggested the members read it from the website. He did bring a copy of the Treasurers Report, and VP Garry Denning read the Report at the meeting. Darrell Anderson, the Club Treasurer is working the night shift. The Report was approved as read.
Anderson also sent a letter telling the members he would be attending the Northwest Regional AMA meeting this month in Monroe, Washington, and would report his findings at the March meeting. Dues were paid by Doug Thames, Jim Christianson and Garry Denning at the meeting. President had re-appointed Doug Thames as Field Marshal and David Clayton was nominated as Safety Officer, the members made a motion and passed it, confirming Claytons new position.
Thames noted the he took one of the tractor batteries home for the winter and will keep it on a trickle charger. He was unable to get the second battery, as somebody has taken the combo lock and replaced it with a key lock and nobody knows who has the key?
A motion was made and passed that the Club Treasurer buy four new combo locks for the three sheds and the main gate, and that the one for the main gate have a longer shank or neck. Members have been noticing the present locks have not been closing correctly and they needed to be replaced.
There was a discussion about maintaning the field, Tom O'Hara said he'd loan the Club his big mower if it is needed and Clayton also said he had a push type power mower he could donate to the Club. There was talk about weed control and Sandy said he would visit with Steve Woodhouse about possible strategies for this summer.
Four events were discussed and a motion was made and passed to have these events scheduled, below is the events and dates:
Fun Fly June 16
Fly In July 7-8
Float Fly In August 11 at Riverfront Park
Cross Country Aug 18
July 4th was discussed as the meeting date for the July meeting, most members said this would be problem to have a meeting on July 4, so the members decided to delay the July meeting until July 11 and then hold the meeting at the Field. We have talked about this before and this year the members decided to give it a try.
Joe Slocum would like to host a Field of the Month at his place in April. No date has been set yet, but it will be forwarded to the membership by email soon. Leo Somerfeld also wanted to invite everybody to attend his annual Fly In in Power on October 13.
Sandy showed off a new Club Jacket that his wife gave him for Christmas, it's back has a single P-51, it looked good. For orders contact Shinning Mountain etc.
Meeting adjourned at 8 pm.
January 4th Meeting
President David Clayton started the meeting at 7 pm with 11 members attending. The Club Secretary read the Minutes from the last meeting, they were approved as read. The Club Treasurer gave his monthly report, which included that we will let the $1K CD rollover when it matures in mid January. Darrell also paid the DOT license permit for our highway sign, and also the first half of the Club's taxes have been paid. The Treasurer's Report was approved as read. Ed Evick was a guest and was introduced to the guys. Ed flew line control airplanes years ago. He recently ran into Dell Johnson who was wearing one of our coats and asked about out Club. Sometimes advertising works, as Ed may join this spring. Clayton informed the group that we might need to look for a new meeting place. Perkins expects the group to order $50 worth of menu items every month or they will be out right billed. It was the feeling of the group that we might look around for another site. Three places that were talked about was the Roller Rink, Front Range or Centry Link. The membership will be notified when a new meeting place is obtained. A short Award Dinner report was given. We had several planes donated, we took in a total of $204 including a 50-50 drawing give back by Doug Thames. After the two plaques the Club netted $143 profit. We thank all of you who donated to this event. Clayton intertained a motion that the members nominated at the November meeting be elected as Club Officers for 2012. Motion was made and passed. New Club Officers are: Pres John Sandy, VP Garry Denning, Treas Darrell Anderson, and Sec Bruce Hadella. The group gave the officers from 2011 a "Well Done." New President John Sandy took over the meeting after the election. There was a discussion about the UAV's and the 2.4Ghz frequencies. Sandy asked for some possible flying dates to be talked about at the February meeting. Several members paid their 2012 dues, remember that you can save $10 if you pay your dues by the March Meeting. After that members will pay the same $85 fee as new members do. Please make sure your AMA dues are current too.
Meeting adjorned at 8 pm.
